I ordered this for my daughter and cut myself a section to try and I like it. Don’t know what I expected but it is nice. My hair is clean and feels good. I think a natural shampoo is something a person has to get used to. I’m ordering my own bar 🙂 !!

I first tried the Rhassoul Shampoo Bar in August 2015. I could tell a difference in my hair after the first few uses. It’s now been just over a year and my hair has regained thickness and natural curl. I’m chemically sensitive and the scent is very gentle; “just so”. It works great as a soap, too. I really love it! Thank you for offering such great quality products. 🙂

  3. Deborah Gatz

I keep trying this shampoo and really want to like it, but no matter what I do, this product leaves a residue that I can’t get rid of despite long rinsing. I don’t use any conditioners because they flatten my hair, so I know that the shampoo bar alone is the culprit. I can’t get my hair to feel clean. Twice I tried to apply heat (hair dryer or straightening iron), and my hair just stuck out in the shape of the hairbrush and the iron made it go totally flat and felt heavy on my head. I tried it for over three months without any heat that whole time, thinking perhaps my hair needed to adjust. I tried rinsing with lemon essential oil – didn’t work. I tried pure lemon juice that I squeezed. Nothing except hair that stuck to my head and just looked and felt dirty. Also, I have never used hot water when washing my hair; only lukewarm. Can anyone give me some suggestions to try? I really, really want to go chemical free but can’t get this product to work. I hate giving this such a poor rating, but the results I’m having aren’t positive.

Have you tried an apple cider rinse, Deb? Everyone is so different when it comes to chemical-free personal care products. I appreciate your feedback. You’re a great customer too. Thanks for today’s order!

Deborah Gatz, I follow up with a diluted ACV rinse.
I don’t wash my hair every day, either. On days that I don’t wash, I use just the ACV rinse.

  5. Deb Gatz

Thank you, Andrea and Angela – I will try the ACV rinse when I shampoo next. I forgot to mention that I only wash my hair about twice a week and keep it dry the rest of the time. How much do you dilute it ~ equal parts ACV and water or something else? Thanks again!

    • Andrea Fabry

Yes about half and half works nicely. Some might prefer it more diluted, Deb.

  6. Deborah Gatz

    Okay ~ I’ll happily give it a try. 🙂

I have been trying to only use natural care products for several years now and therefore make a lot of my own as needed. unfortunately I never found time to make soap as of yet and I am still frequently searching for good all natural products and finally decided to try this shampoo bar. I was very happy with it from the get go. I can not speak about long term use as of yet, but I am ordering the second bar long before it’s time for the next one. I have a feeling I am sharing it with other members of my household and don’t want to run out unexpected. My hair has been used to all natural products for some time now and yes beware it takes a while for the body(in this case your hair), to “adjust’ to chemical free care. I try to wash my hair only once a week and I do rub pure hair friendly oils (for example baobab oil)into the ends of my fairly long hair while it is still damp. I’m happy and so content with this product that along with this shampoo bar I will order some other soap bars as soon as I’m finished with this review. Which reminds me, delivery was prompt and all was packaged nicely.

Andrea this shampoo bar is AWESOME!! I have never found a natural soap or shampoo bar that I loved enough to make it myself. This one I would take the time to learn how to make. It makes my hair feel so soft and clean. If you ever have a class to show how to make this shampoo bar I’m in! Until then I’m stocking up on the shampoo.

    • Andrea Fabry

Thank you, Sandra! It’s one of my most complicated recipes, but I’m happy to share it!

I have noticed that the shampoo bar and soaps do not list lye as an ingredient. Are they made from existing bars of soap?

    • Andrea Fabry

That’s a great question, Sandra. The process of saponification involves the use of lye, distilled water, and oils. The lye is transformed through the process to yield soap. To list lye as an ingredient would be misleading since the lye is no longer present and if it were it would burn. I test each batch to be sure the final product is neutral, and no lye remains. I hope this answers your question.

  10. Sandra (verified owner)

Thanks Andrea. It does. I had friends tell me that this soap is not soap because there is no lye in the ingredients list. I’ll show them your answer. It should satisfy them.

    • Andrea Fabry

I’m formulating a FAQ section on the site to address this. It’s a common question.

After using this Rosemary Rhassoul Shampoo Bar for 3 months… no more irritated scalp. Leaves my medium length hair soft and shiny. Also have a little new hair growth:)~ no doubt due to this all-natural herbal shampoo. All orders arrived promptly and nicely packaged. Grateful for Just So products.

I am wanting to fight male balding the natural way and selected this soap for that reason. Do you have any other oils that you would suggest?
